Paul Quinn College Volleyball Claims Their First National Title
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2025) … Paul Quinn College completed an undefeated run through the 2025 USCAA Women’s Division I Volleyball Championships on Saturday with a 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 win over Florida National University for the championship.
In the opening set, Florida National held a 9-7 lead following a kill from Chriselle Ferdinand before Paul Quinn ripped off an 11-3 burst as an attack error for the Conquistadors gave Tigers an 18-12 lead. FNU cut the deficit in half on several occasions, the last being 24-21 after a Kitula Amaya Morales kill. Carrie Weston ended the first set with a kill for a 25-21 score.
Set two saw the Conquistadors jump out to an 8-3 lead early after a Morales kill. The champions went on a 9-2 burst to lead 12-10 after an attack error from FNU. A spurt from FNU allowed them to regain the lead at 14-13 after a PQC attack error. The Tigers ripped off the next six points to take control with a 19-14 lead following an attack error to eventually win 25-22.
The third set was a nip and tuck contest as a Laila Beck kill gave the Tigers a 14-13 lead. FNU responded scoring eight straight points to lead 21-14 on a Ferdinand kill. Paul Quinn cut that lead to 24-23 after an attack error, but FNU’s Ailanie Ortega ripped a kill to take a 25-23 set.
Paul Quinn jumped out fast in the fourth racing to a 5-1 lead and cruised to the first volleyball title in program history.
Weston, who was named tournament MVP, had 18 kills and 17 digs, while Jakayla Morrow added 11 kills. A’Niyah Harrison and Ashley Sanchez paced Paul Quinn in digs with 26 and 24 apiece.
Morales and Arianna Long paced Florida National with 13 kills apiece.
